UPDATE - 11012004
Well! There are so many pics from North Carolina that I gave up trying to organize them and post them for now. Sorry! There are some great ones, especially of Naoko with the shark she caught!
Instead I will tell you about the Walk to Cure Diabetes and how my family participated in it on behalf of my niece Shannon. We raised lots of money and had a great time. I took a bunch of photos and have them online, but what I really want to do is to say "Thanks!" to all those who donated!

UPDATE - 05112004
Holy cow, it's already May! I was planning on going to the gym during the winter, but it seems winter is over before I made it. Hmmm... I guess I'll just have to wait until next winter.
In the meantime, I joined Thirteen's softball team which participates in the city-wide league. We've played two games so far, and I think we lost both by more than 12 runs. Thank God it's just for fun, right?
I have realized that playing ball is not at all like riding a bike. After ten years of not touching a spherical recreational device, I have completely lost all my throwing and catching skills. It's rather embarassing! In the last game, I was playing outfield and a line-drive rocketed out towards me. I got in front of it and put my glove down, but my feet came together in a awkward way. The ball hit my glove and knocked me over! When I recovered, I grabbed that evil ball and hurled it towards the 2nd baseman. It rolled up just short of his feet! However, despite my farcical fielding skills, I am an fine swatter! I've gotten 5 hits so far, one for each time I've gotten to bat!
Until I get some pics from these games, I'll have to post this cute picture of Naoko! I've decided to make a special page for here and this photo officially launches it!

I have trouble reading my dating scheme. :o\
Check this out! In an explosion of creative energy and loss of sanity, I think I've gone and created ::insert echo effect:: THE WORLD'S LARGEST LOL! EMOTICON! I feel deeply satisfied now. Click here to see ::insert echo effect:: THE WORLD'S LARGEST LOL! EMOTICON!
Back home, Naoko is sick with bronchitis, a terrible coughing disease that keeps both of us from getting any sleep. Luckily, work has been slow and I'm able to catch up on a lot of missed zzz's here in my cubicle.
Announcement! Once again I am joining the clan down in Topsail this summer! Hurray! I look forward to burnt skin, no sleep, and a chance to catch some fish. This time, I'm bringing the GameCube so we can wig out on Mario Party, Mario Kart, and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to take a nap.

UPDATE - 03052004
Hurray! This is my first legitimate update!
What do you think about this new idea of mine? I am going to become a farmer in Japan! Well, not maybe any time soon, but it's an idea that's fun to think about. From what I understand, the Japanese government is paying people to move into the countryside. The reason is pure economics. The village youth are flocking to the cities. This leaves behind a lot of old people that aren't working, but who are still collecting benefits. Who pays for these handouts if no one is working in the community? Some villages are nothing but retirement settlements, some have even gone bankrupt and dissolved. And so, the government will give you a nice stipend, a home, as well as bonuses per child including a larger stipend and schooling. I figure I could grow garlic or something. Read more about this here!
Don't worry too much, though, Mom! Naoko is a city slicker through and through. There's not a chance that this'll actually happen, but still, it sounds like a great idea to the romantic in me.
In the meantime, I've been going to some local gaming conventions to help sell my buddy's game as well as to have fun exploring my inner nerd.

UPDATE - 01232004
Does it count as an update if this is the first thing I put on my new homepage?
I have two photo galleries I am willing to share with you. The first is a "photo essay"* from my trip to Japan. All the images were taken with a cell phone that I borrowed from Naoko's mom, Fujiko. Taking pics with a cell phone is a lot of fun because you can sneak some great candid shots from wherever you are. When I took them, I didn't know how big they were going to turn out - which is quite small. The images you will see are as big as they get - no need to click on them in order to see a larger photo. However, for those of you that must click on something, I left in the unecessary links. Enjoy! Click here to see my pics from Japan
* I can use the phrase "photo essay" because I live in Manhattan and know some artists.

UPDATE - 01232004
Is it wrong to call it an update if I've added this before I've even launched the site?
I think by now most of you are aware of my super-hero identity. I am a nerd and this fact I do not hide from anyone. Mostly, I'm the "gamer" variety - I've been involved with roleplaying games since I was nine, computer games since junior high, and board games since I can remember. I own a PlayStation 2 and a Nintendo GameCube. I roleplay in a campaign that's been going on for more than 7 years. Also, I am a huge movie nerd, especially dorky sci-fi! I blame it all on Star Wars and Hawk the Slayer. Late last year, I was introduced to a bunch of fellow NYC nerds via a Web site called nerdnyc, a gathering of the tribe, if you will. I've made many new friends, most of whom don't smell (that's a real find in my social circles!). I hang out with them fairly regularly and now attend some conventions while pimping my friend's self-published game, The Burning Wheel. Don't worry! I swear I've yet to put on an elf costume!
